A RABALEIRA

Off the rocks of A Rabaleira
dreams slide away, the percebeiros,
shadows of hope crash
like waves into the rocks’ edge.
Lacerations of life
lacerations of salt !…

Rabaleira you are rock, they are flesh,
earth and wind, immersed in the same sea.
Into your fruitful gut they bound
filling the basket of dreams with life.

Lacerations of life
lacerations of salt !…
With frothy smiles biting with fury,
thirsty with shadow, and sweet cantigas,
a bitter cry dressed up with tears,
the sea overwhelms them, takes away their life.

Lacerations of life
lacerations of salt !…

ROSES WILL ALWAYS GROW IN THE SEA.
