Héctor López started working in his family’s restaurant in Lugo (Spain) from a very early age. After studying at CSHG (Hotel Management School of Galicia) in Santiago, he decided to immerse himself in what was happening in the country, and he did so at the hands of Pedro Subijana and Toño Pérez among others.
Years later he returned and focused on the kitchen at Restaurante España, where day by day he tries to rejuvenate the cuisine in Lugo. Héctor bets on a comedic yet perfectly defined combination, between the orthodox heritage and the “aggiornamento” of a firm, rural area, both in terms of the mountains and the coast.
Currently, Restaurante España is immersed in a new stage, full of projects such as the breeding of its own Galician oxen, with which a 10-dish menu has been created and has become a Galician reference for this type of meat.
In 2014, the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE) granted the restaurant with a “Q” for Tourism Quality, an accolade which has been renewed each year.
