Iria Espinosa
Cooking demonstration
Iria Espinosa discovered her passion for the kitchen thanks to her grandmother, Pepa. Trained in cooking at the CIFP Paseo das Pontes in A Coruña, she had her first contact with the professional kitchen in the catering company Boketé, where she reported to Javier Rodríguez “Taky”. In 2006 she joined the A Coruña Restaurante Alborada team, and she set out on a meteoric career. In 2009 she won the Galician Chefs Championship and she won the Best Kitchen Assistant in Spain award at the Bouse D’Or competition. That same year she started the project Vinoteca Bernardina in San Sebastian. In 2010 she returned to the kitchens of Alborada with Luis Veira, achieving a Michelin Star. It was in 2012 where she became head chef in chef Luis Veria’s personal project Árbore da Veira, which has also been awarded with a star. This is a project in which Iria is one of the fundamental elements of the innovative cuisine.
Her cuisine is good-natured, simple and deep, leaving nothing to chance in her search for flavour. In short, she is a young chef who evolves and innovates, without losing sight of her free port, A Coruña.
At the SAL A Coruña Atlantic Flavours Festival she will participate in an Atlantic Jam Session alongside Gerson Iglesias (As Caldas) and Andrés Médici (PurOsushi).
